There exist innumerable recipes that help you prepare pasta. However, it is equally important for your pasta to be healthy and satisfying, so that your efforts in preparing do not go wasted. One of the most common mistakes that people make while preparing pasta is to overcook it. Sticky or mushy pasta is definitely not the one to be enjoyed. Below are given some tips to help you find a pasta recipe that you enjoy.

1. 3-4 quarts of water is suitable for cooking a pound of pasta. Have a large pot to cook in to prevent the pasta from getting stuck together.
2. Add 1tbsp coarse salt for every quart of water to avoid sticking.
3. Use olive oil of decent quality to toss the pasta that is to be prepared in advance. Store the pasta in a zip top baggie in the refrigerator.
4. Avoid putting oil in the water, since this will result in the sauce sliding off your pasta.
5. Get your water to a brisk boil before you add the pasta in it. The boil will cause the large bubbles to constantly rise up to the water’s top. Put the salt in water along with the pasta.
6. Start stirring immediately to avoid sticking. Continue stirring till the water again comes to a boil.
7. Again bring the water to a brisk boil and keep the heat temperature high after covering the pot. Keep a watch over it to prevent boiling over. Once the water begins to boil, remove the pot cover and start to stir. Have the heat turned to medium high and complete the cooking process.
8. Drain your pasta using a sieve as soon as the cooking is done. Make sure you drain away all the water to avoid a watery sauce.
9. Stay away from a mushy pasta. The best way to cook pasta is to follow the instructions on its package along with the time recommendations.
